I took a personal day from work for the first time in many years and am thankful I did so. I spent the day working on creative projects at Coffee Bar and then dined at one of my favorite restaurants, Blue Plate, in the Mission right on the border of Bernal Heights. Thanks to LivingSocial, our party got $40 worth of food for $20 – as if we needed another incentive to dine at one of the best American food spots around. The service that night wasn’t top notch but the food, open kitchen, cozy ambiance, and garden out back, not to mention the company, made up for it.
The next day, my friend Marie and I took a photography class at the Nikon School where I picked up the perfect gift for myself:
Just kidding. I wish. The lens itself isn’t even on the market yet. And the D3X is $6,000+ plus for the body alone. One can dream, right? The lady at the booth was incredibly nice and said I could insert a memory card and take some photos if I’d like but I had to get back to the seminar. Instead, I bought myself something a little bit more affordable:
My friend Helena Price is incredibly talented – especially when it comes to photography. If you’re in a band, it would be in your best interest to get in touch with her as you can regularly see her work in SF Weekly and the Chronicle. She also has a Tumblr account where she posts “Treats” from locations all over SF and I discovered the Hipstamatic application. As if I needed an excuse to spend more time on my iPhone:
