An Elite Treat

The trail we completed earlier in the morning. These map cards displaying SF hot spots and trails can be found at Chronicle Books inside the Sony Metreon on 4th Street and Market.

My friends and I have been getting into the good habit of going on an 8-mile-long run on Ocean Beach every Saturday morning. Yes, every Saturday morning for the past few weeks, we deprive ourselves of sleeping in (much like the rest of the domesticated world, especially people with kids) and head out to run in the early hours.

As a reward, we grab brunch afterward at a local spot, something San Francisco has in abundance. This past Saturday, I was introduced to Elite Cafe on Fillmore and California. Delicious would be an understatement. Let’s just say I’m glad I finished the entire 8-mile course because the food is worthy of being devoured down to every last bite.

The view from inside our booth. Even though the place was packed, we didn't have to wait.

The Bloody Marys had just the right amount of spice.

The pomegranate makes it healthy, right? Pomegranate mimosa with lemon. They also have Mango which I'll defnitely be trying in the near future.

Silverware just like my late grandmother owned.

Alabama Scramble: Scrambled eggs and minced bacon with baked mashed potatoes, biscuits, and gravy.

I decided to try something new and I'm glad I did. New Orleans Style BBQ shrimp and cheese grits with sourdough toast and poached eggs.

Can you really go wrong with Huevos Rancheros? Probably not.

There's always room for dessert. These mini cinammon and sugar donut holes are quite addictive. You've been warned.

  1. i’ve always wondered about elite cafe! :) what a great way to treat yourself after a long run. i can barely do a mile, so 8 is amazing. :)

  2. I love the stories about your parents! And I love the cute voice you make to imitate your Mother! More sill parent stories trying to domesticate Kara!
